Competitions and Entry Forms

The Hororata Highland Games is the only event in the South Island to feature all the traditional Scottish Games. The Games are at the heart of this event, and great pride is taken in providing a high quality competitive event which competitors and spectators enjoy.

Competitors in the Games can be assured of a high standard of competition with national and international judges. For all Adult events, good prize money is on offer, but the real prizes to be treasured are the stunning Hororata Highland Games medals and Champion trophies.

Entries will open 1st September for Hororata Highland Games 9th November 2019 at the Hororata Domain. Secure your place early; in some events numbers are limited.

The Hororata Highland Games also offers lots of Have A Go events – can you toss a Caber or Sheaf? Try Archery, race the Kilted Mile or the pie eating competition, and try your hand at small bore shooting. You can enter all on the day. Highland Dancing

We offer a wide range of dance categories – Under 6 years, to under 16 years categories, from novice upwards.   Read more

A fleece to garment competition where teams of six race to spin and knit a jersey in just six hours.  Read more

Heavy Championships

Compete in the traditional Scottish Heavy athletic  events with invitational, amateur and women’s categories, as well as the Farmers Walk.   Read more

Harraways Junior Warriors

Kids aged between 8 and 14 years old compete in the light version of the Highland Games strength events. Enter in teams of four or simply have a go on the day. Read more
